What do Connoisseurs have to say about Farooqi's work... Urdu,
Persian and Arabic scripts are ornamental, artistic and deep. If you see the
Shakista style, it looks like the
flight of birds and the phases of evolutionary process. If
you see Naksh you pass through the
feelings of inner strength, as sense of
security. In Kufi
you see the constructive greatness of middle
age. The
tradition of calligraphy is embedded in our temperament. Like other things this
tradition too is influencing the artists of Western World. With
Mustafa Farooqi you find calligraphy with all its paraphernalia. Although he has
not been able to intermingle the two things in a manner that creates a
unique
style, but his lines are a hint towards his ultimate journey to this goal. Mustafa
Farooqi not only plays with lines, but also paints, clean,
homely. Perhaps his
mind has not yet gone through the pains, which necessitates complicated
expression. ZIA
MOHIUDDIN Calligraphy
is such a ramification of fine arts, where immense efforts have been made by the
best of artists since the very arrival of Islam. The noble art has revived in
this age-by the artists who are trained in Western Styles; for example Sadequain, Guljee, Rashid Ahmad Arshad, Hanif Ramay, etc. Mustafa
Farooqi is also a known name in many departments of art, such as painting,
calligraphy and engraving. His style is different in calligraphy having its own
individual charm. I feel our printing industry should also utilize the
innovation to its advantage, and mould new types and bring the creations of
these artists within the reach of common man. I
hope the future of this talented artist is bright. IBNE INSHA
